Meet Danique
Hello! I am Danique and I was born and raised in Aruba. I moved to The Netherlands 8 years ago, where I completed my studies in Ecological Pedagogy.
From a young age I knew for sure that I wanted to work with children. I’ve always wanted to babysit or play with the family’s babies and toddlers. I have done various babysitting jobs in Aruba. In addition, I often helped at various events at a primary school, I gave dance and gymnastics lessons to toddlers and I was a leader at a summer camp for children. Over the years and especially during my studies, I learned how to deal with the various parenting questions in a professional manner.
I had to do an internship from year 1 of the study. In this way I was eventually able to orientate with about 5 different organizations with different goals. Within those organizations I have done buddy projects, worked in residential groups for young people, arranged sports and play activities for neighbourhoods, conducted consultation hours with asylum seekers and lastly I performed various activities for children at a community school at a welfare organisation.
In 2016 I had done my internship in New York City at a private Montessori pre-academic nursery. I think that has been my most special internship so far. After my studies I started working in Australia as an Au-Pair for six months. That was certainly educational but also fun. Back in the Netherlands I was approached by Nicole, the power woman behind EverydaySensoryplay, to expand the activities together.
